For Diwali—a major festival of lights celebrated across India—Snapchat commissioned my creative technology studio, Kupa Creative, as one of their trusted partners to develop three localized AR Lenses for the Indian community. As a founding member and Creative Lead, I directed the conceptual vision and developed comprehensive concept art and storyboards for the spatial environments.
For Diwali—a major festival of lights celebrated across India—Snapchat commissioned my creative technology studio, Kupa Creative, as one of their trusted partners to develop three localized AR Lenses for the Indian community. As a founding member and Creative Lead, I directed the conceptual vision and developed comprehensive concept art and storyboards for the spatial environments.
Working in close collaboration with my team of developers and 3D designers, we crafted an immersive and culturally authentic AR experience that faithfully recreated the essence of the Diwali celebration. A key technical achievement involved implementing advanced machine learning models for real-time sky segmentation, enabling realistic fireworks effects that accurately differentiated the sky from foreground elements such as buildings, trees, and other environmental features in the live camera feed.
Leveraging Snapchat's Lens Studio platform, we utilized their AI-powered 3D model generation tool to rapidly produce supplementary visual assets. This approach proved highly effective for generating auxiliary elements where minor mesh inconsistencies were imperceptible due to their scale within the composition.
